Ladies, Wine & Design

LW&D was founded in 2015 by Jessica Walsh after this happened, and is now a global initiative in over 285 cities worldwide. Myself & Ruth Irvine started the Southampton chapter — selling out our first ever zine-marking workshop with Artizine in April 2019. We host and fund regular talks, workshops & meet-ups for our local community of creatives.

Did you know, that only 0.1% of creative agencies are founded by women & non-binary people, and that the numbers are even smaller for women/non-binary BIPOC? Our mission is to see more diversity in the creative industry, especially within leadership roles! LW&D takes an interdisciplinary approach to this work, by offering free mentorship circles, portfolio reviews, talks, creative meet-ups & more, for underrepresented creatives.

Creating an online community with #CollaborationOverCompetition

Our space is inclusive of ALL creative professionals, students & enthusiasts. If you feel you could benefit from a space to share ideas & collaborate, you are welcome. Alcohol is entirely optional — you can drink tea, coffee, or whatever you like!

Facilitating Open Conversations

At Ladies, Wine & Design, we strive to create a safe space for open conversation amongst creatives. We understand that opening up about our experiences can sometimes be tough, so we often use prompts — like our Do You Even Design Manifest-tho? worksheets and our signature Question Cards — to guide questions & establish talking points.

Diddy Pins

We created this mini-series of pins — using the Sorry I Have No Filter illustrations created by the incredible Daniel Brokstad for Ladies, Wine & Design — to raise money for our chapter.

A cross-industry collaborative effort, our wooden LW&D sign is used to pin notices on & provide venue directions to attendees.

A huge thanks to Samuel Black (Founder of Black Timber Projects) for making the sign, Sharon Jones (Eagle Lab Engineer at Barclays) for laser-cutting the type, and to the wonderful Ruth Irvine for co-designing the piece.

If you or your company would like to support our creative community, drop us a dm 🤳 or email us 💌 to find out about sponsorship & collaboration opportunities.

Name Stickers

A series of name stickers for event attendees to wear — so we can spend more time chatting, and less time trying to remember each others names!

‘Sorry I Have No Filter’ Prints

A series of greetings cards, mini-prints & stickers — using the Sorry I Have No Filter illustrations created by the incredible Jessica Walsh (Creative Direction), Daniel Brokstad (Design & Type), Rachel Denti (Tomb Stone Design), Sarah Hopp & Emily Sims (Photography) for Ladies, Wine & Design. We give these out at events as freebies (with optional donations) to raise awareness of LW&D, and as a thank you to our guests for contributing to the conversation & for being a part of our growing community.

Discreet 'Camera Shy' stickers for guests to wear whom want to be kept out of photographs.

A huge thanks to our sponsors: Barclays, Creative Network South, Design Chapel, Etch, Fenner, Fedrigoni, GHT, Hinge, and You Agency for supporting us creative folk and keeping our chapter alive; to all the wonderful creatives that have collaborated with us, and of course, to the incredible Jessica Walsh for making this happen!
